the new power
A little message to the Democratic Party.
This is not a change of power, nor is it Bush-grade “edict”. This is the 2004 election again, but the way it should have been handled.
This is when, after many, many close runs at the polls, the party stands up and says “We know these races were close.” Take a firm stand, but do it on the platform of finding balance with what must be done and what we varied and numerous citizens want, and you’ll do fine.
let's summarize death, shall we?
“That’s the power of an enemy that is willing to kill innocent people. But there’s also an unbelievable will and resiliency by the Iraqi people…. Admittedly, it seems like a decade ago. I like to tell people when the final history is written on Iraq, it will look like just a comma because there is — my point is, there’s a strong will for democracy.”
— George W. Bush
Only a comma? In the grade level of the history books you’re used to, Mr. President, yes, that’s probably accurate.
Only power-mongers summarize the kind of death that’s happening in Iraq as part of some obligated, transitory state. When we and others have sacrificed, we still try to honor the memory and scales of these sacrifices and not just call them punctuation to a larger sentence of some floundering political agenda. By the way, Stalin was reported to have called mass death only a “statistic.” Not exactly the best company to keep, is it? Was the American Civil War just a comma to us? Was Vietnam a footnote?
This isn’t a party issue, it’s about integrity. History is details. And they will be captured. Yours, too.
Foley op-ed on Daily Kos
I am sick of our country preaching moral values, and electing to office those that, when the chips are down even in their very halls, have none.
— Hunter
our political history
As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.
goodbye religion, hello politics
The terms right-wing and left-wing were created for baby boomers who had just given up religion and were looking for a new gang to join.
thinking about it
[Our enemies] never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.
